Back to Sid's filmography: First broadcast on BBC One in November, 1977, this film features three descents of Alum Pot by Craven Pothole Club teams. The first, including Fred and Tom Austin, are shown descending via Dollytubs with rope ladders and wearing traditonal garb; a second CPC team are shown descending Diccan Pot with electron ladder and wearing wetsuits, and Rob Palmer is shown abseiling the North West Route of Alum Pot. Beneath the Pennines won a number of awards including the Royal Television Society Regional Programme of the Year Award, and Alum Pot in particular won the Grand Prix at the 1978 Festival International du Film de Spéléologie at La Chapelle-en-Vercors.
